The film is inspired by a poem of the same title, yet takes the poetical piece one step further with an unpredictable, so-called Techo-Taoist approach to the universe and narrative structure. The Little Match Girl who freezes to death in Andersen‘s fairy tale is revived in an electronic game. The aim is to prevent anyone from luring the girl from her business so she can freeze to death and see your image in the flames of her matches as she dies. One night, Ju dials a number written on the lighter he bought in the street and is instructed to log into the game. He is told that if he battles the hundreds and thousands of other computer players and wins, he will get an enormous amount of cash and the Match Girl. He is also warned that recklessness and lack of skill could make it impossible for him to return to the material world. Regardless, Ju takes the challenge.
